Hi and happy November! With the excitement and bustle of Fall Festival wrapping up, we are using this time to officially get things ready for the winter season on the farm. We are butchering the last of our broiler chickens, digging dahlia tubers, and making sure greenhouses are ready for the cold to come. This is the first week of Winter CSA and the first week of our winter hours. From now until spring, we will be open on Wednesdays from 12pm-6pm and Sundays from 9am-1pm. A reminder that our CSA pick up day at the farm is on Wednesdays and that we’ll hold your box for a week in our cold room if you are unable to come pick up on a Wednesday. As a PSA to all, we do still have a bit of frozen cider left as of today (11/5)! Stop by to grab those last jugs of the season before they’re gone! We’re looking forward to this winter season of hearty veg and cozy recipes with you all - thanks for supporting us even in the colder months!

With root veggie season upon us, it’s time to start highlighting our favorite winter veggies again! In your boxes this week, you’ll find everyone’s favorite root veggie - parsnips! Parsnips are similar to carrots, but have a bit of a sweeter taste and an amazing texture that can be used in a variety of dishes. Roasting them or blending them into soups are perfect ways to use parsnips in the fall, but they can also be used to spice up your Thanksgiving table or make a fall sweet treat. I’ve included some Thanksgiving-esque recipes to test out before the big day, as well as one of my favorite parsnip treats below.

For those half share members, we’ve included a Futsu squash in your boxes this week. Futsu squash looks like a funky pumpkin and has a nutty flavor that’s similar to a butternut squash! It can be used as a substitute for butternut squash in your favorite fall recipes. I’ve included a Futsu-specific soup recipe below!
