Happy Wednesday! We hope you’ve been enjoying the nice weather this week before the snow flies in the next few days! Another reminder about our new CSA Pick-Up day and Market Stand hours for the winter season: CSA Pick-Up is from 12pm-6pm on Wednesdays and our Market Stand will be open on Wednesdays from 12pm-6pm and Sundays from 9am-1pm. Whole Farm CSA members can start picking up holiday wreaths when you stop in to grab your veggies! We will be making wreaths for about another month, so if you see one you like when you’re here, feel free to take it with you and check it off on the sheet! We make all of our wreaths by hand right here at the farm. We use a mix of fresh greenery from our many evergreens around the property and dried flowers from our summer fields that have been hanging in our barn to dry out for the past few months. If you aren’t a Whole Farm CSA member and are interested in purchasing a wreath this holiday season, we are selling the flowers + greenery wreaths for $50 and the flowers-only wreaths for $75. We have wreath boxes to help with transportation and/or shipping, so inquire at our front desk if needed!

In your boxes this week, you’ll find some of our favorite cold-season leafy greens - frisée and radicchio! Frisée is a frilly green that has a slightly bitter, peppery taste. The darker leaves on the outside tend to be a bit more bitter, while the lighter parts on the inside of the head are a bit sweeter. Radicchio is a more purplish leafy veg that has a sharp, bitter flavor when eaten raw. When cooked, it takes on a less bitter, more nutty flavor. I’ve included some fun recipes that use each of these unique greens below! Try them out and let us know what you think!
