12/31 Happy New year CSA!
Happy New Year everybody!
Our farm has been quiet these last few weeks of 2025; Our crew is down to just a few, and Jacy and I are caring for the necessary things and jumping in to seeding, washing, packing, and harvesting on a day or two per week. It’s nice to be in charge of just ourselves! The weather has made this relatively easy this winter; very little shoveling, plowing, or making sure greenhouses are ok with the snow load, and the winter greenhouses are producing well with kale and chard, lettuces and salad greens. Sadly, this means the Nordic Trails have been on and off again and so on. Today and maybe the next few days, the snow should hold out for a ski, but the grass is starting to show.
Chickens finished their molt in November and now as they have recovered, they have a 3am alarm that turns the lights on, giving them 14 plus hours of light a day. Their laying is starting to increase, and we should have plenty for our WFCSA members as well as extras for sale in the market stand going forward. Pay them a visit if you get a chance, along with Bella and Magda! They are out in the fields by the creek and by the hay barn with their respective flocks!
PS: Winter CSA runs through the end of January, as does the Whole Farm CSA. February 1 starts a new season of WFCSA; details in the coming week!
See you all in 2026!
